Year 1 had a great day doing all their learning outside. Our day was focused around the book The Princess and the Wizard along with letter of the week, p. First we read our story then had a letter hunt for pictures beginning with p, making the letter p using natural materials and even using the chalk to write our letter of the week on the wall. When snack time came we had a treat that started with p….. pancakes! For Numeracy we were busy counting objects, sorting for colour and adding the correct number of candles to the cake.
We finished our day with a science experiment. We made special potions to math the colours in the story using baking soda and vinegar. Everyone enjoyed watching it fizz and grow. Finally we had some play time. We built castles out of crates, did some Autumn leaf printing, hammered golf tees into our pumpkins and had a run around. It was a super day!
